NEW CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE THESIS

– The thesis identified new subclades of H5N6 virus in Vietnam including 2.3.4.4a and 2.3.4.4b.

– The thesis studied on some important biological characteristics of H5N6 AI viruses, sequenced all 8 gene segments of 17 H5N6 viruses collected in Vietnam from 2014-2015, thereby identifying the origin of H5N6 AI viruses in the priod of 2014-2015 in Vietnam.

– The thesis applied three-dimensional antigen mapping method to determine the antigen distance between H5N6 and other H5 influenza viruses. This research method has not been used in the study of influenza virus in our country.
